Parenting Mash-Up

Parenting Mash-Up

Mash-up (noun) "a mixture or fusion of disparate elements"

With it being a snow day, Jennifer decided cookies were in order, so Mia and I took on the task. As Mia is refining her cooking/baking skills and has made these cookies many times at her grandma's house, she took the lead and really did most of the work.

As is usual, I decided to overboard and pull out the SLR and flash. A simple snap from my phone just wasn't going to be enough. My original desire was to get a cool image of a freshly baked cookie. (What do you think?) Instead of simply sitting, pretending to supervise, and waiting for a finished product Mia and I mashed-up baking and photography.

Naturally I did most of the photography and Mia did most of baking, but she did let me participate a little and she took a number of photos.

We hope you like what we made. A lot more are uploaded in a Baking Cookies gallery.

Trunk or Treating at Jackson Park

The first Trunk or Treat sponsored by the Jackson Park PTO was last night. Jennifer did a great job putting together decorations for our truck. While we did not win the official prize for the best decorated car, the smokey witches brew,  was a big hit with kids and adults alike.

Mia has got some character

For the second week in a row, Vance has been kind enough to want to use one of my photos as the artwork to go along with the podcast we do

In this episode we discuss frustrating email messages, so I was tasked with coming up with a photo that involved a computer. I had inspiration from the classic Strobist at his computer photo, so all I needed was a willing model.

Fortunately Mia was willing and pulled out some amazing expressions.

Embarrassing but Present

With the summer winding up, we decided to go to finally use the free Six Flags ticket my youngest daughter (Mia) received for doing enough reading during the school year. If you  haven’t heard of Six Flags, it is a typical amusement park with rides, food, games, and crowds of people.
